“The six officers, in their 20s to 30s, are now remanded for three days to assist in the investigation according to Section 223/224 of the Penal Code,” he said when met at the Bayan Baru Ramadan Bazaar, today.

Shuhaily said in the midnight incident yesterday, a detainee known as Azizi Mohammad Hassan managed to escape from the lock-up.

The 33-year-old man was arrested on April 20 on suspicion of being involved in a drug case.

“The man involved was arrested in a raid in Jelutong and is awaiting a decision on whether to be detained under the Special Preventive Measures Dangerous Drugs Act 1985.

“Following the incident, we launched an operation to hunt down the man.”
